Waterfront Areas

All groups wanting to use the swimming pond or rent canoes on Watts Creek must fill out and strictly adhere to a Water Safety Agreement.

Adult supervision should be present at all times when activities are occurring at, near, or around the water.

Swimming Pond

Swimming is only permitted in the swimming pond.  Swimming is available from Memorial Day to Labor Day only, unless specific arrangements are made with the administrator before arrival.  Use of the zip-line is reserved for Camp Mardela's summer camps, and IS NOT permitted for rental groups.

Camp Mardela reserves the right to close the pond entirely, reduce the swimming area, eject individuals, limit participant numbers, or limit activities based on the administrator's determination of safety.

Children under the age of 18 shall not swim or be in the pond area without the supervision of an adult.

The shall be a minimum of one non-swimming adult actively supervising for every 15 children swimming.

Diving is strictly prohibited in all areas of the pond.

Horseplay is not permitted: piggy-backing, chicken fighting, dunking, etc.

There should be no running on the dock.

Glass containers, food, and gum are not allowed at the pond.

Groups are responsible for cleaning up and removing all litter from the pond area.

Canoes

Canoes need to be requested in advance, and should be checked out by the group leader.

Life jackets must be worn by all participants at all times, regardless of age or experience.  Life jackets and paddles are in the closet on the Craft House porch.

There can not be more than three people in any canoe at one time.

There must be at least one experienced adult (over 18) participating for each two canoes in the water.

After use, canoes must be returned to storage racks and relocked.  Paddles and preservers should be returned to closet in good condition.
