PERSONAL CONDUCT POLICIES: In order to provide an atmosphere where people can live together in an intentional Christian community, the following guidelines are provided for personal conduct.

These guidelines include, but may not be limited to:

1. Each camper is expected to participate and cooperate in all activities.

2. Any type of abusive behavior towards other persons in unacceptable.

3. Any type of abusive behavior toward camp property, including the natural setting, is unacceptable.

4. Profane language is unacceptable.

5. The possession or use of tobacco, alcohol, and illegal drugs are strictly prohibited and are cause for immediate dismissal from camp.

6. Established "off-limits" areas are to be honored.

7. Clothing, including swimsuits, needs to be modest.  T-shirt design and writing on t-shirts should not be suggestive, in poor taste, or offensive to other persons.

8. Campers must not behave in such a way as to require constant one-on-one adult supervision and care.

If a camper is unable to function within these guidelines, actions will be taken by the camp staff, keeping in mind the best interest of the individual, all other campers, and camp staff.  A camper may be sent home after consultation with a parent/guardian if it is determined that the camper's behavior is disruptive to the program.

MEALS: Three well-balanced meals plus an evening snack are served each day.  Ice water is also available during the day.  Please do not bring or mail food, candy, gum, or snacks of any kind to camp.

MAIL:  A card or letter from a parent, friend, or pastor is welcomed, and helps build camper morale.  Parents/guardians of campers who may experience homesickness should plan to have a card or letter arrive daily.  Mail should be addressed to the camper, c/o Camp Mardela, P.O. Box 460, Denton, MD 21629.

SCHOLARSHIPS: If you are receiving assistance from your congregation, please have your pastor or camp representative fill out the appropriate lines on the registration form.  Some scholarship assistance may be available through the camp.  To request a scholarship application form, please call the camp office at (410) 479-2861.

REFUND POLICY:  Campers sent home due to illness, accident, or homesickness are eligible for a prorated refund.  Campers sent home because of personal conduct will not receive a refund.  The $55 registration fee is non-refundable.  Any amount deposited over the $55 registration fee may be refunded if a cancellation is made no less than four weeks prior to that camp.

HEALTH INFORMATION:  Each camper will receive a health information form to be completed prior to the camp session.  Physicals are required ONLY for campers who are under the care of a physician for a specific condition.  For safety purposes, medications brought to camp will be stored and distributed by camp health staff.  The camp fee includes accident and illness insurance, which covers any accidents or illnesses that occur while at camp or while traveling to and from the camp.  This insurance is primary care, but is limited.  If the coverage limit for the camp's insurance policy is reached for a specific occurrence, the family's own health insurance must be used as secondary coverage.

VISITORS AND PHONE CALLS:  Parents and friends are encouraged to tour the camp site and facilities, and meet with leaders when they bring their children to camp.  We seek to help campers develop independence.  An integral part of growing up and developing independence is the extended experience away from home and family.  For this reason, we strongly discourage phone calls and visits to the camp.  If there is an emergency, please contact the camp office.
