Being a Counselor in Training is a great way to get hands-on leadership experience in the camp setting. A C.I.T. will get to be a camp counselor, work on the maintenance staff, help in the kitchen, work in the camp office, or help out anywhere else help may be needed.

If you are interested in being a C.I.T., you must submit at application. Applicants will be reviewed by the Camp Program Committee and will be invited to C.I.T. training after review.

After a C.I.T. has been accepted, they must attend the C.I.T. training. They will learn about camp policies, health and safety, camper interactions and the general skills needed to be a great camp counselor. After interviews and observations during training, campers will be assigned to a first week of camp after consulting with weekly directors. .

C.I.T.'s will then be assigned their start week. The first week of camp, C.I.T.'s will pay half of the camp's tuition. (If their church is paying half, then the remaining tuition will be split evenly between the church and the C.I.T.).

If the C.I.T. has a successful first week, they will be asked to come back for a second week. If they are invited back, they get to come back for free.

If the C.I.T. is asked to come back for any weeks beyond these first two in the same summer they will be paid $100 per week they work with camp.

To submit your application to the C.I.T. program, please email it to Camp Mardela at campmardela@gmail.com or mail to PO Box 460, Denton, MD 21629 no later than May 22nd, 2023.
