WHO: Anyone who is passionate about Camp Mardela and preserving and honoring its traditions. Camp enthusiasts of ALL ages and ALL generations are welcome!
WHAT: Our goals for Archive Day will be to organize and delegate anniversary planning and preparation tasks in the following areas:
create a collection of historical writings on camp history
put together presentations of photo albums and perhaps tri-fold displays - organized by decade
artistic expression of camp history (paintings, drawings, poems, songs, etc)
organize a "camp museum" of physical objects that are significant to Camp Mardela
games and activities related to camp history (reintroducing old games & songs, Mardela-opoly, etc)
contact guest speakers who can share stories and inspiration of Camp Mardela's history (previous administrators, previous board chairs, etc)
WHY: The goal for this day is to gauge interest in the anniversary projects with the people who come and help to delegate some of those projects to people who are more knowledgeable about Camp Mardela history. We will have 2 major anniversary events:
Camp Mardela birthday - May 21st 5pm-8pm
Family Camp Anniversary Weekend - September 1st-3rd
These presentations and activities will be largely for the Anniversary Weekend, but some of the activities and any presentations that are ready can be done and shown on the Camp Mardela Birthday.
If you have interesting historical Camp Mardela items to bring, please feel free, but we also have a lot of historical documents already, so if you are not able to bring anything, there will still be plenty to sort through and organize!
Lunch will be provided, so if you want to take a trip down memory lane, and help us pave that lane for others in this exciting anniversary year, please come out THIS Saturday to join us!
