UPDATES

Family Camp

ree

As I reflect on the Family Camp weekend we had, I cannot help but be brought to tears of joy. This year's camp was a beautiful reflection of the joy and love of this camp community. Everyone here was welcomed in with open arms, shared in moments of fun and joy, and also times of deep thought and worship.

A BIG thank you to our guest speaker Barbara Wise Lewczak who RADIATED love and joy, Bruce & Stacey Layton for their leadership of all of the activities of the weekend, and our special guests Jody Gunn, Douglas Potvin, and Ken George who helped lead us in morning watch and vespers.

We are already making plans for next year's Family Camp, and hope to have schedules and details out about next year's programs and events before the end of the year. You can always check for program updates at www.campmardela.org/camp-programs.

Camp Supper

ree

We would like to extend deepest gratitude to Amy Hutchison and the Fairview Church of the Brethren for helping to make this meal possible, as well as the other local COB churches who contributed - Denton, Ridgely, Easton, Bethany, Community of Joy, and Green Hill. Thank you to everyone who came to the meal and showed this support by participating in this fundraiser as well.

It’s amazing to see the immense support of camp present in this camp community and how deeply that passion and support impacts the lives of all who come here.

Fall Fundraiser

ree

In the wake of a successful summer camp, we are raising funds to help replenish our stores for future programs & projects - potentially giving us enough seed money to start an endowment to begin investing in our long-term goals. Our goal was to raise $10,000 through this fundraising campaign this fall - we have reached $6,000 of our goal. If you would like to donate towards this Fall Fundraising Campaign, you can help us reach our goal by sending donations to P.O. Box 460, Denton, MD 21629 or donate online using the following links:

New BVS Volunteer

ree

We are BEYOND excited to have Justine Eckert join us at Camp Mardela as our new BVS volunteer! Justine is a very unique BVS volunteer to Camp Mardela - not only has she worked on staff at Camp Swatara, but she has also volunteered at Camp Mardela several times this past year! She brings a love and excitement about camp that will make her a wonderful fit here.

Justine arrived on September 25th and began her year-long service here. We are all SO EXCITED for her to be here, so wish her a warm welcome!

PROJECTS

SEEKING TREASURER!

ree

We were blessed to have a wonderful treasurer for the past 2 years, but she moved and had to resign in December, 2023. Since then, we have been seeking a treasurer to fill her position with no luck. If you have any interest or know anyone with any financial skills, PLEASE consider serving as our camp treasurer. The job can be done in-office or remote and requires approx. 8-12 hours of work a month.

Service Days

ree

We had a few people come on August 10th to help us clean up after summer camp. While we got a lot done, we can ALWAYS use more helping hands on these volunteer days. The next service day is November 30th and we would appreciate the help winterizing and decorating camp for Christmas. Volunteers are always welcome to join on Thursdays as well. Lunch is provided on all service days.

Wish List

ree

This summer, we discovered that there are some items in need of replacement as things have broken down or have been in constant need of repair. There are also places we can upgrade easily with the right supplies. If you're interested in contributing towards getting some of these improved, it would be greatly appreciated. Find the wish list at www.campmardela.org/donate. Any contribution large or small is appreciated!
