Friends of Camp Mardela,
The seeds of Camp Mardela were planted 75 years ago, and it has grown tremendously since that time, and it is still growing! Our summer season and year round rentals increased by 20% in 2023. As we grow, we have an increased interest in using our facilities. In the winter months, our main camp building, Krabill Hall, is not able to be used because it is not winterized. The only source of heat is a fire place and small plug-in electric heaters, which are grossly insufficient at heating the whole building in the winter. We have also found that in the summer, campers and adults need respite from the blazing heat and humidity that comes, and there are only a couple buildings that offer relief from the summer heat.
Based on this, we want to invest in the longevity of camp’s usability by putting heat & air conditioning units in Krabill Hall. Right now, the cost of installing this system will be a total of about $40,000 (approximately $33,000 for installation, $4,000 for electric upgrades, $3,000 for insulation of doors and bathrooms).
The total fundraising goal for all of the Krabill projects is $50,000. We already completed the dishwasher installation and refrigerator repairs. As of 9/18/2023, we have reached about 40% of our total goal - $19,843.00 (including in-kind donations). We would like to see this system installed by 2024, and need your help to make that possible. We are also adding to our peace brick garden. Any bricks purchased will support the Krabill improvement project. Krabill Hall is the centerpiece of Camp Mardela, and we want to see it be used to its fullest potential year round for anyone who seeks it. We hope that you consider supporting this fundraiser to help Camp Mardela to continue to grow into the future.
